Core Policy Truck Air Compressors
General Requirements:
Cores must have no major parts missing or damage to obtain full core allowance.
Cores with damaged or missing parts are subject to reduced core allowances.
Cores may be returned against core charges up to 6 months after date of purchase. Any cores returned against invoices older than 6 months will be treated as excess cores.
The following rules apply to all cores being returned:
- All disassembled cores will be considered having 2 parts damaged.
- Badly rusted or corroded cores have no core value.
- Fire damaged cores have no core value.
- Cores that have been welded, brazed or otherwise repaired are considered no core value.

CORE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
- Complete Core – Fully assembled and complete (including gear when applicable) Full Core Refund
- Rear Cover – Cracked back cover. (1 Part Damage)
- Crankcase – Broken case, flange or flange base. (2 Part Damage)
- Crankshaft – Non-operational damage (hammer strike to shaft) (1 Part Damaged) or Broken Crankshaft (2 Part Damage)
What to look for when inspecting your compressor core for return.
- Crankshafts – Look for: Damaged locknut threads caused by pulley puller. Damaged locknut threads evident by pulled threads caused by over torquing or corrosion. Damaged key slot caused by loose drive hubs/pulleys
- Crankcases – Look for: Broken flange mounting surfaces caused by mishandling. Broken or cracked sides caused by a rotating broken connecting rod. Broken base flange caused by mishandling
- Heads – Look for: Damaged water port threads caused by over torquing or corrosion. Freeze cracks around water ports
- Complete core – Look for: Excessive corrosion or obvious long periods of non-use. Core should be in “off engine condition”. Damage by non-operational causes such as fire, rust or rough handling

There are four stages in determining the value of a Air Compressor Core:
Good Core – 100%
1 Part Damaged – 50% Value
2 Parts Damaged – 25% Value
3 Parts Damaged – 0% Value
- 1 Part Damaged – Damaged Head, Broken Front Cover, Missing or Damaged Gear (when applicable), Connecting Rod, Piston or Broken/Missing Back Cover
- 2 Parts Damaged – Broken Crankcase or Damaged Crankshaft
